What We Actually Buy for Our Bunnies

With nine rabbits, we go through a lot of supplies, so we have learned what is worth buying again. This is the honest list of what we use at home.

Hay

We buy Standlee Timothy hay at Tractor Supply. Hay is the biggest part of a rabbit’s diet, and fresh Timothy hay is the foundation of ours. When we have nursing bunnies, we use Standlee alfalfa hay for them, because alfalfa is richer and suits young, growing and nursing rabbits better than adults.

Pellets

Our rabbits eat Oxbow Garden Select non-GMO pellets. We buy the 25 lb bag on Chewy Autoship, so we never run out. Pellets are a measured part of the day, not an all-you-can-eat bowl, so ask your vet how much is right for your rabbit.

Litter

For litter, we use pine pellet bedding from Tractor Supply. If you are getting started with litter training, our step-by-step litter training guide walks you through it.

Carrier

Our carrier is a MidWest Spree. A hard-sided, top-loading carrier makes vet trips calmer, and it is easy to clean.

Cleaning

For deep cleans, we use Nature’s Miracle cage cleaner.

More picks

We keep a longer, organized list of favorites on our Bunny House Picks page. Some links on that page may earn Bunny Treat a small commission at no extra cost to you, and we explain how in our affiliate disclosure.

General care information, not veterinary advice. If your rabbit seems unwell, call a vet who treats rabbits.
